Actually, Republicans have a Really Big Problem
I’m back from Red Rocks and 3 days of Widespread Panic but I’ve been following the path of the Big Ugly Bill the whole time and as I’m writing this, the senate has just passed their version of the Trump budget bill.
BUT Elon Musk has once again declared open war on any Republican who voted for this bill:
And is reminding everyone that the results of his “very scientific” twitter poll DEMANDS a new party he wants to call The America Party.
This would, in effect, divide the Republican Party enough to cause them significant electoral issues from 3rd party vote loss. Watch for Red States to fall in love with ranked choice voting 3,2,1 now.
The odds are increasing, as Elon gleefully RT’d.
Elon is BIG MAD
Maybe mad enough to follow through on what would be a deficit hawk 3rd party with endless money. That’s why I made him a meme!
You can imagine how Trump is taking Elon’s last minute re-intrusion into the trying to kill what they can no longer call The Big Beautiful Bill because Chuck Schumer challenged the title of the bill so now they need a new one.
Again, legislative process in America is so messy I bet even some political scientists have to Google it up sometimes but here’s where we are with this thing:
The senate has a version of a bill they need to retitle: this bill adds trillions to the debt (which Elon and Thomas Massie hate) while gutting Medicaid to give billionaires bigger tax breaks (which will sentence every GOP House moderate to political death in the midterms).
Thus you have the GOP’S Really Big Problem:
The deficit hawks hate both versions and are led by the world’s richest man who is threatening primary challenges to any Republican that votes yes.
Trump wants the deficit adding tax cuts and is willing to cut Medicaid to have it because he believes he can lie his way out of it. He is the cult leader with deep pockets and threatening to primary any Republicans that vote no.
The House and Senate Republicans in swing races in 2026 know the vote for final passage on the final bill (which they will have to do AGAIN if the House Rs change anything) is the vote that ends their political careers. In 2010 swing race Democrats gave up their seats to bring 40 million people healthcare. Republicans are doing it to take it back from them.
So now Speaker Johnson needs to whip the House to vote for the senate version with no changes. That is why they left the SALT Cap raises in (to hold the swing race House Rs).
What this means collectively is there are different factions in the modern MAGA Party and they need ALL of them to vote yes on the final version.
Republicans from all states and districts are being held hostage by TWO different people with lots of money and influence threatening to primary them for two different things!!
Vote yes and piss of Elon and the deficit hawks and get primaried
Vote no and piss off Trump and most of MAGA and get primaried
And maybe, JUST maybe Elon will launch his vanity project and shit will get real interesting, real fast. He’s not trying to build a moderate 3rd party, he wants a party willing to let disabled people rot and seniors die on the streets. He can’t be encouraged enough in this pursuit.
But here’s something you should understand. They are going to probably get something through and whatever that final something is, its going to destroy real peoples’ lives.
This, combined with the loss of the nationwide injunction (I will write more on this later in the week), means that a lot of Trump’s crazy EOs are going to go into effect.
Combined, America is about to touch the stove. Maybe it will wake them up in time to save democracy.

I suppose it means, when this blows up he'll go to "Biden!"
do you think the GOPs who vote for it will get buyers' remorse immediately, or will they first feel relieved the president ain't coming after them? I want them all to know what they face next year. I want to see the fear in their eyes. I want to see them after they realize there's no way out and no way back, and that they did this to themselves.

The VISUAL EVIDENCE IS NOW ON YOUR SIDE. GO ON ESPN (a male-leaning channel) and express concern about the viability of the pending World Cup with actors like Dolos and Miller in the mix. P.P.P.S.: Every local office of the Democratic Party and of the elected officials (including state representatives on up) must become a site for civic teach-ins and a clearing house for needed services (with Federal departments being sabotaged). The fact is that Democrats believe in the value of government and of government service, and the other side (i.e. the MAGAts and the illiberals) simply doesn’t. This engagement process will make registering partisan voters and teaching civics much easier.
