Folks, sometimes when I’m waging war against the MAGA Nazis on the twitter machine I come across something I read and then want you to read too.
This is why I am going to copy and paste this short piece from someone who would prefer to remain anonymous (with their permission!)
This analysis shows the parallels between MAGA and another fascists movement from 100 years ago who you know as the Nazis.
Here it is:
The comparison to Nazi Germany isn’t just a stretch—it’s a direct historical parallel unfolding in real time. Trump’s playbook is eerily similar to Hitler’s rise to power, and the signs are all there for those willing to see them.
Hitler exploited economic hardship and blamed outsiders and minorities for the country’s problems—Trump does the same with immigrants, refugees, and political opponents.
Hitler rose to power through democratic means, then dismantled democratic institutions from within—Trump is following the same script, stacking courts, gutting federal agencies, and openly threatening to imprison political opponents.
Hitler used propaganda to create an alternate reality, convincing his followers that the press was the enemy and that only he could be trusted—Trump does the exact same thing, calling the media “fake news” and relying on disinformation networks like Fox News and Truth Social to keep his base insulated.
Hitler incited violence, encouraged street militias (Brownshirts), and claimed victimhood when the establishment fought back—Trump unleashed a violent mob on the Capitol, still calls them “hostages,” and openly praises those who attack his enemies.
Hitler demonized intellectuals, the press, and political opponents, purging the government of those who wouldn’t bend the knee—Trump has threatened mass firings, pledged retribution, and promised to punish those who oppose him.
Hitler normalized hatred toward specific groups, gradually escalating to persecution—Trump’s Muslim bans, mass deportation plans, and open endorsements of ethnic cleansing are already setting the stage for something darker.
Hitler weaponized the legal system, using loyal judges and officials to crush dissent and silence opposition—Trump is actively packing the courts, pressuring the justice system, and vowing to use the presidency to destroy his enemies.
Hitler aligned himself with wealthy elites and big business, convincing them he was the only one who could preserve their power—Trump is backed by billionaires, corporate interests, and power-hungry enablers who see him as a tool to strip democracy down for profit.
Putin, Orban, and Maduro are modern authoritarians, no doubt, but Trump isn’t just one of them—he’s a textbook case of history repeating itself. If people refuse to see it, it’s not because the signs aren’t there—it’s because they don’t want to believe it’s possible.
By the time Hitler fully seized power, it was too late to stop him. What makes anyone think we get a different ending this time?
Throughout history, leaders who sought unchecked power justified their actions in strikingly similar ways. Their own words reveal the mindset of those who see themselves as above the law:
Adolf Hitler: The good of the state stands above the law.
Benito Mussolini: Everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.
Napoleon Bonaparte: I am the revolution.
Francisco Franco: I am responsible only to God and to history.
Donald Trump: He who saves his country does not violate any law.
The message is clear. When a leader believes they are the law, democracy is already in jeopardy.
Duh.. some of us hated progressives have been shouting the warnings to the Reagan Democrat leadership and the Reagan Democrat majority base that incrementally moving to the right to appease the Nazis across the aisle was a bad idea. We were put down for even suggesting that their friends across the aisle had evil intent. I'm disgusted with Democratic Leadership and the majority of the base. They have no intention of fighting back. In fact they spend most of their time blaming progressives for the failures that can be laid at the center's feet.
Rings true and I have been screaming this into the void for several years now to no avail.
